Pls note that the new weight process of DHL (Flyer volumetric Weight)
Dear All,
This is in continuation to the attached Memo sent out last year to drive Piece level reweigh compliance.
For Flyer Reweigh, a clear direction was given to ensure that any “flyer with three measurable sides must be volumetrically measured”. This message was sent out as a reminder to avoid potential volumetric revenue leakage.
Global SOP requires 100% capture of the dimensions and/or actual weight of each Piece being processed for onward movement, and there is no exception to this rule as Reweigh is directly linked with the Revenue.
For everyone’s understanding (especially for Reweigh Operators), please note that any flyer that has a thickness of 5cm (centimetres) or more, must have its dimensions captured for volumetric weight measurement. This is applicable for all types of flyers including documents and flyer fat-packs.
For flyer with thickness less than 5cm, please ensure that the scale weight (actual / dead weight) on the reweigh machine is always captured. This will ensure we are not missing out on any single flyer whether it is above or below 5cm.
To ensure accurate capture of the dimensions and actual weight of each piece, below are a few guidelines to be followed:
· Only one Piece at a time can be measured.
· Every Piece must have its dimensions and/or weight captured against the Piece identifier before leaving the country of Shipment acceptance (in Service Centres or Gateways wherever the reweigh process is performed.)
· The actual scale weight must be captured for all Pieces, and volumetrically measured if each side measures 5cm or more.
· In the event that electronic measurement is not possible, the correct weight, dimensions and number of pieces must be manually measured through measuring tapes and weighing scales. The shipment details must be sent to the network & updated appropriately.
· Please note that during transit (Hubs/Destination countries) , pieces can also be re-weighed and re- dimensioned before actual delivery.
Countries may locally decide how they will ensure compliance to above guidelines for flyer dimensioning. As a recommendation, you may have a 5cm mark on all reweigh systems, for easy referencing of reweigh agents (refer image as an example)
